Katha (कथा)

In Sikhism, Katha refers to the explanation, interpretation, and narration of the teachings of the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Sikh history, and spiritual concepts. It is a key part of Sikh religious practice and helps the sangat (congregation) understand the deep meanings of Gurbani (the Guru’s words).

Katha in the Sikh tradition is usually a discursive explanation of Gurbani, often delivered in Punjabi or other accessible languages.

It helps in understanding the teachings of the Gurus, history of Sikhism, and the spiritual path described in the Sikh scriptures.

It can include references to Sikh Itihaas (history) and examples from daily life to explain divine wisdom.
